Welcome to Gram Bikash Shohayak Shangshtha


Gram Bikash Sohayak Songstha (GBSS) is an action oriented Non-Government, Non-political and Non-profitable development organization briefly known as Gram Bikash. Gram Bikash was established in the 1988 with a view to improve the socio economic condition of the marginalized groups with special emphasis to the women, children and person with disability. The organization was registered with Department of Social Welfare and NGO Affairs Bureau in the year 1990 and in the year 1994 respectively.

The goal of GBSS is to mobilize a vast majority of the people to be self confident, self reliance and to create awareness among them for living a decent and meaningful life in all respect and to make them productive force.

GBSS emphasizes on bottom up, participatory and integrated development framework based target group development approach but it also implements activities following community based approaches in many special cases. GBSS especially believes and integrates disables for an inclusive societal development.

Success Stories
I start organizing an association taking 5-6 people in my village in 1986. It was very good that people become motivated. In 1987, our office opens a branch at Ghorashal. In the mean time I conceive my second son Omlan Farouk. I find myself happy opting myself as a coordinator of Ghorashal development area. You will find the Shaheed Giasuddin Ahmed Library, from where our office started working. I start training our employees, but not in traditional ways, normally what it is done. For many reasons our development area become focused for the exposure visit of Comilla Proshika. In September 1989, some Harvard sophomores come to see our projects. I did not want to move with them for any single reason. That was the seventh month of my pregnancy. I had to move with those students. We were to work for the flood rehabilitation.
